Altos de Carbonal is a unique property with 1.5 miles of coast-line and an amazing plateau rising 800 feet above the ocean.

Altos de Carbonal, with its rare, natural lagoon, is ideal for a golf course development and residential community.

Part of the vast terrain slopes into the ocean. Here, there is an old access-road which leads down to the pristine water below.

The property is only 19 miles (35 minutes) from Liberia International Airport, and is connected by a road which is almost entirely paved and in good condition.

A notable feature of Altos de Carbonal is the international appeal and recognition of the adjacent properties, which include the mentioned Four Seasons Resort and the rest of the Peninsula Papagayo Project, the Ellerstina Polo and Equestrian Club (which includes 3 Polo fields and private villas), and the extensive Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, with Playa Naranjo, Witch’s Rock and the Bat Islands, admired by SCUBA divers worldwide. 

Also worth mentioning are two other gorgeous, neighboring beaches: Playa Iguanita and Playa Cabuyal.

Less than half-mile from the entrance of Altos de Carbonal there is a successful tourist destination which caters mostly to the Four Seasons Resort guests.  At this spot, tourists can enjoy a canopy tour with zip lines, horseback riding, cow roping and a hearty lunch, consisting of typical foods.

Evenings at Altos de Carbonal are particularly beautiful, with breathtaking sunsets to the west and the magnificent “Orosi” and “Rincon de la Vieja” volcanoes to the east.

Abundant Water supply including a 40 hectare natural lake which is one-of-a-kind in the relatively dry Guanacaste coast.  The lake is home to various species of fish (including tilapia, catfish, and carp) and aquatic plants.  This self-contained ecosystem attracts many birds searching for food and shelter.

The old access-road leads to a stony beach with crystalline waters.  There are several spectacular beaches in the immediate area.

We are preparing to submit an official request for a building permit for a Marina with 370 slips. The Four Seasons Marina was recently approved.
